		<description>I agree about the difference between Hugo and Berr -- and the more I think about it, the more I am convinced that Hugo&#039;s fundamental mistake was to depersonalize his condemned man. If we had no personality, the horror of the death penalty would be quite different!</description>

		<description>The connection between Hugo and Berr is an interesting one. I think because she was part of something bigger and had committed no crime she is able to focus on others instead, like the condemned man, only worry about himself.

It is remarkable that in the face of what was happening that she was able to separate the Nazis from the Germans. Thanks for sharing her story!</description>
